What Remia keeps, why, and how to make it go.
In short
Remia keeps your trips so you can plan them and have them with you offline. We do not sell your data, show you adverts, or share your trips with anyone you have not invited. You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time.
What we collect
Your account: your email address, the name you give, and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, an identifier from them. If you use Hide My Email, we only see the relay address.
Your trips: what you add to them, such as trip names and dates, stops, places, times and notes. Trips you share are visible to the people you invite, in the role you give them.
Planning together: the comments you leave on a trip, your votes in its polls, and what you save to its moodboard (images, places, colours and links). The people on a trip see these, and see your name; they do not see the rest of your profile. An invite link lets whoever holds it join the trip until it expires after two weeks or you turn it off.
A copy on your phone: the app keeps your trips in a database on the device so they work without a signal. It stays on the phone until you sign out or delete the app.
Booking emails you forward: when you forward a confirmation to your Remia address, we read it to find the booking. We keep the booking details, who forwarded it, its subject, and the first part of the email so you can check the details against it. The rest of the email is not kept. Nothing from it reaches your trip until you confirm it.
Outfits: the photos you add to a look and the names, colours and weights of the clothes in it. Photos are stored privately and visible only to the people on that trip.
Flights and your passport: the flights you add and their live status, and, if you add it, your passport’s expiry date and issuing country, so Remia can check it against where you are going. Nothing else from your passport is kept.
Papers: the documents you keep in Remia, such as a passport, visa, insurance or ticket, with their photos, references, notes and expiry dates; and your receipts, with what was spent, where and when. Papers are private to you, even on a shared trip. They are stored encrypted on our servers and protected on your phone by its own storage encryption, and the Papers tab opens only after Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. That check happens on the phone; Remia never receives your face, fingerprint or passcode. When you send a receipt, it goes only where you choose to send it.
Drafted itineraries: when you ask for one, we send an AI service the destination, how many days the trip is, the season and the trip’s mode. Nothing that identifies you is sent. We keep the plan it returns and may give the same plan to another traveller whose trip has the same shape. Your saved places are added to your draft on our side, and the draft is only yours until you keep it.
Trip recaps: when you share a recap, anyone with its link can see the trip’s name, dates, itinerary and moodboard, the name you give, and your own looks with their photos. Never anyone else’s looks, and never your papers or receipts. You can turn a link off at any time.
Alerts: if you turn on flight alerts, a token that lets us send notifications to that phone. It is removed when the phone stops accepting them.
Plus: if you buy Plus, Apple or Google takes the payment; we never see your card. We keep which plan you have, until when, and whether it renews, and a record of each purchase event the store reports, so Plus works on every phone you sign in on. The app also notes when it has offered you Plus, and whether you opened or dismissed the offer, so it does not ask twice and so we can tell which offers are useful.
Links to partners: when you open a suggestion for somewhere to stay, things to book or an eSIM, it passes through our site, which counts the click by kind, partner and the destination’s country. Nothing about you is kept with the count. The partner then has its own privacy policy, and we may earn a commission.
Money: amounts are kept in the currency you paid. The app converts them for display at the day’s reference rates, which it downloads; nothing about you is sent to get them.
Location: Remia does not use your location.
Your device settings: the app reads your phone’s region to show dates, times and money the local way. It is not sent to us.
Technical records: our hosting providers keep short-lived logs of requests, including IP addresses, to keep the service running and secure.
Why we use it
To run the service you asked for: signing you in, keeping your trips, and keeping them in step across your devices and with the people you plan with. That is the contract between us. We use technical records to keep the service secure, which is our legitimate interest.
Who processes it for us
Supabase stores your account and trips. Resend sends the emails we send you, such as sign-in codes, and receives the booking emails you forward. An AI service reads those emails to pick out the booking, and drafts itineraries when you ask; we only use AI services that do not train their models on what we send them. PowerSync keeps the copy on your phone in step with that store. RevenueCat records your purchases of Plus from Apple and Google, under your Remia account id. Vercel hosts this website. Expo builds and delivers the app, and carries flight alerts to your phone through Apple and Google. Apple and Google also handle sign-in when you choose them. A flight data provider receives the flight numbers and dates you add, and nothing about you. Open-Meteo receives a trip’s destination for its forecast, never your location. Google Places looks up your hotel’s address in the local language, and Mapbox draws its map. Each processes data only on our instructions. Some of them work outside the UK; where they do, the transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
Before Remia uses any new kind of data or any new service to process it, this policy is updated first.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. When you delete it, it is removed from our database straight away, and from our providers’ backups within the following weeks as those backups expire.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings and choose Delete account. Without the app, use the deletion page at /account/delete on this site. Either way, your profile, the trips you created, and your looks, packing, documents and receipts are deleted. A trip someone else can edit passes to them rather than disappearing from under them. Your comments and votes on shared trips are deleted too.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to send it to you in a portable form. Write to privacy@remiatravel.com and we will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Remia is not meant for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly hold their data.
